A Must See Tourist Experience!
**Closed April 4th, Easter Sunday**
Visit the Hunley and see the world’s first combat submarine along with amazing artifacts found onboard during excavation of the crew compartment. A unique tourist experience that covers three centuries of history and technology.
We are open for limited hours on Saturday and Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM (last tour begins at 2:40 PM). We will be following all CDC safety guidelines. Also, we have large, open spaces allowing you to visit while practicing social distancing. Our staff will all be wearing masks, sanitation stations are installed throughout our exhibits, and cleaning staff will be wiping down exhibits after they are used. Reservations will be required. As always, tours are not available on weekdays so scientists can continue their work preserving the Hunley for future generations and discovering her true history (except for pre-planned private group tours and school visits).
A visit to the Hunley lab is a combined self-paced and guided tour. The actual viewing of the submarine in the tank is docent led and lasts approximately 20 minutes. With a store, interactive exhibits, and activities, most visitors stay at least one hour.
