The Blue Light

Documenting History!
We are working to save the Hunley, the artifacts found within and build a submarine naval museum where our nation’s story under the waves can be told for generations to come. The Blue Light magazine is becoming a historical record of this work. With beautiful full-color images and the latest details of our discoveries, it is a wonderful “insiders” look at this national treasure!
The Roadmap to Saving the Hunley
After the Hunley was recovered in 2000, she was placed in a 75,000-gallon tank designed to protect the world’s first successful combat submarine until a full conservation treatment could be conducted. The Hunley needed this protection; otherwise, she would rapidly begin to rust and deteriorate. This interim solution bought scientists the time they needed to excavate and develop a plan to ensure the submarine’s survival. Join us to receive your copy of The Blue Light !
