Weekend Visits & Hours
Visit the Hunley and see the world’s first combat submarine along with amazing artifacts found onboard during excavation of the crew compartment. A unique tourist experience that covers three centuries of history and technology.
We are open on Saturday 10 AM – 5 PM and Sunday from 10 AM – 3 PM. With a store, interactive exhibits, and activities, most visitors stay one to two hours. Since door shuts at closing time, please be sure to arrive to allow enough time to fully enjoy your experience!
Private Weekday Tours
Tours are not available on weekdays so scientists can continue their work preserving the Hunley for future generations and discovering her true history (except for pre-planned private group tours and school visits).
An adult private weekday tour is $20.00 per person with a minimum of 20 people or $400.00 for a group with less than 20 people. Student Youth Groups are $8.00 per person with a minimum of 20 people or $160 for less than 20 people.
How to Reserve Your Spot
Tickets ordered in advance are $18.00 for adults and $10.00 for youth ages 6-12, plus a service charge and can be purchased online here. Tickets for Friends of the Hunley members are $12.00 and senior citizens and military are discounted to $15.00. Children age 5 and under are free. Tickets can be ordered online in advance up until midnight the day before your tour. You can purchase tickets the day of your tour at the entrance gate. These tickets do not have a service charge.

- Take exit 216-B, Cosgrove Avenue North
- Head northeast on Cosgrove Ave toward Spruill Avenue
- Turn right onto Spruill Avenue
- Turn left onto Stromboli Avenue
- Turn left onto Bainbridge Avenue Connector
- Turn left onto Bainbridge Avenue
- Take the ramp on the right for Viaduct Road
- Bear right onto Viaduct Road
- Immediately turn left onto North Hobson Avenue
- Turn right onto Supply Street
- The Hunley lab will be on the left
